Tuning forks, also known as wristwatch crystals, are specifically designed to generate a single frequency of 32.768kHz. This frequency simplifies the process of generating a 1 Hz signal required by the watch industry through frequency dividers. The tuning forks are cut close to normal to the Z-axis of the wafer, typically at a slight angle of 2-5 degrees off the Z-axis.
The frequency stability of these tuning forks is represented by a quadratic function, with a zero-temperature coefficient of around 25°C, similar to AT-cut crystals. They are highly accurate when worn as intended, typically on someone's wrist for 16 hours and off the wrist for 8 hours each day.
The package includes 1 x YXC 32.768 kHz 12.5 pF Tuning Fork Quartz Crystal SMD 3.2 x 1.5 x 0.8mm.
