This XBee USB Adapter based on the CP2102 IC unit is designed to work seamlessly with all XBee modules, including Series 1 and Series 2.5, standard, and Pro versions. By plugging the unit into the XBee Explorer and attaching the USB cable, you gain direct access to the serial and programming pins on the XBee unit. The board features a CP2102 USB to Serial chip, allowing easy connection to your computer via USB for reprogramming the XBee modules and firmware changes. Powered by the USB cable, this adapter comes with the XBee XB24-Z7WIT-004 module from Digi, offering improved power output and data protocol compared to the Series 2.
The Series 2B modules enhance the ability to create complex mesh networks using the XBee ZB ZigBee mesh firmware, enabling reliable communication between various devices with a serial port. Supporting point-to-point and multi-point networks, this module includes LED indicators for Power, RSSI, Din & Dout. It serves as a basic breakout board for the Zigbee module, facilitating interfacing with a PC via USB and even programming the Xbee module using the XCTU software.
