The TOP222YN is a member of the TOP Switch-II family designed by Power Integration, offering enhanced features over the first generation. It extends the power range up to 150W for 100/115/230 VAC input and up to 90W for 85-265 VAC universal input, making it suitable for various applications like TV, monitor, and audio amplifiers.
With significant circuit enhancements, this PWM switch is less sensitive to board layout and line transients, simplifying the design process. The 8L PDIP package helps reduce costs in lower power applications, as it efficiently transfers heat from the chip to the board, eliminating the need for a heat sink.
The TOP Switch technology integrates essential functions for a switched mode control system into a three-terminal monolithic IC, including a power MOSFET, PWM controller, high voltage start-up circuit, loop compensation, and fault protection circuitry.
Equipped with stability in discontinuous or continuous conduction mode, the TOP222YN supports various topologies like flyback, forward, boost, or buck. Its source-connected tab reduces EMI, while the circuit simplicity and design tools aid in quicker time-to-market.
