The SoftPot membrane potentiometer is a resistive element, comprising a conductive resistor, sealed encasement, and simple wiper assembly. It can function as a voltage divider. By pressing a wiper onto the top circuit, the desired electrical output is produced. The wiper is non-conductive and depresses the top circuit, actuating the potentiometer from the outside. The top and bottom circuits are separated by 0.15mm of spacer adhesive build-up, with contact occurring by pressure from the wiper on the top circuit.

The wiper design can adapt to any application, with materials like plastics, metals, sliders, rollers, wheels, etc. The SoftPot can also be manually actuated by hand.
