The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B is the newest addition to the Raspberry Pi range, featuring a 64-bit quad-core processor, USB 3.0 ports, dual-band wireless LAN, and Gigabit Ethernet with PoE capability. This version comes with 2GB of RAM, offering improved performance and connectivity options.
The upgraded hardware of the Pi 4 includes a high-performance quad-core 64-bit Broadcom 2711 processor, designed for faster performance and reduced power consumption. With USB 3.0 ports, the transfer speed is 10 times faster than USB 2.0, providing a significantly improved internet experience.
Despite the hardware upgrades, the Pi 4 maintains compatibility with existing Raspbian or PIXEL software. It is recommended to update the operating system to ensure compatibility with the new hardware. Older SD cards may require an upgrade to work with the Pi 4.
For power input, the Pi 4 features a type C USB port for 5V 3A input, but it consumes less power than previous versions, allowing the use of older power adapters. Official adapters for the Raspberry Pi 4 are available for purchase separately.
