The MT8888 is a monolithic DTMF transceiver with a call progress filter. It is fabricated in Mitel’s ISO2-CMOS technology, providing low power dissipation and high reliability. The DTMF receiver is based on the industry-standard MT8870 monolithic DTMF receiver, while the transmitter utilizes a switched capacitor D/A converter for low distortion and high accuracy DTMF signaling. Internal counters enable a burst mode for precise timing in transmitting tone bursts. A call progress filter can be selected to allow a microprocessor to analyze call progress tones. The device features a standard microprocessor bus that is directly compatible with 6800 series microprocessors.
Applications for the MT8888 include credit card systems, paging systems, repeater systems/mobile radio, interconnect dialers, and personal computers.
