The MCP41010 is a 256-position digital potentiometer available in 10 k?, 50 k?, and 100 k? resistance versions. It is a single-channel device packaged in either an 8-pin PDIP or SOIC package. The wiper position can be controlled linearly through an SPI interface. The device consumes less than 1 µA during static operation and features a software shutdown option that disconnects the "A" terminal from the resistor stack.
During shutdown mode, the wiper can be connected to the "B" terminal and the contents of the wiper register can be modified. Upon power-up, the wiper is reset to the mid-scale position (80h). The MCP41010 also includes an RS (reset) pin for hardware reset and wiper positioning.
