The MC34262 is an active power factor controller designed for use as a preconverter in electronic ballasts and offline power converter applications. It features an internal startup timer for standalone operation, a one quadrant multiplier for near unity power factor, zero current detector for critical conduction, and a transconductance error amplifier. Additionally, it includes a quickstart circuit for enhanced startup, an internal bandgap reference, current sensing comparator, and a totem pole output for driving power MOSFETs.
Protective features like an overvoltage comparator, input undervoltage lockout, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, and more ensure safe and reliable operation. The device comes in a dual-in-line plastic package and supersedes the functionality of SG3561 and TDA4817. It is Pb-Free and Halide-Free for environmental compliance.
