The LM386 is a power amplifier ideal for battery operation in low voltage consumer applications. The gain is internally set to 20, but can be adjusted to any value from 20 to 200 with external components. The inputs are ground referenced, and the output biases automatically to one-half the supply voltage. With a quiescent power drain of only 24 mW at 6-V supply, it is efficient for battery use.
With low distortion of 0.2% and self-centering output quiescent voltage, the LM386 ensures high-quality audio output. It is available in an 8-Pin MSOP Package for easy integration.
