The LilyPad Arduino consists of an ATmega328 with the Arduino bootloader and minimal external components for simplicity. It offers functionality similar to other Arduino boards but in a compact, round design to reduce snagging. The wide tabs allow for sewing with conductive thread.
Each LilyPad has large connecting pads for sewing into clothing and supports a wide range of accessories like input, output, power, and sensor boards. Additionally, the board is washable for added convenience.
The latest version of the LilyPad supports automatic reset for easier programming. The backside is completely flat, and a surface mount programming connector is used to prevent the header from poking through. This version utilizes the ATmega328 at 8MHz, supported by Arduino 0016 for seamless integration.
