The LDR, also known as a photoresistor, is a resistor that changes its resistance based on the light intensity it receives. It can be used in various applications such as light sensors, color sensors, object sensors, and more.
To use the LDR, connect one side to power (e.g., 5V) and the other side to your microcontroller's analog input pin. Add a 10K pull-down resistor from the analog pin to ground. The voltage on the pin will vary based on the light conditions.
Analog Applications:
- Camera exposure control
- Auto slide focus – dual cell
- Photocopy machines – toner density
- Colorimetric test equipment
Digital Applications:
- Automatic headlight dimmer
- Nightlight control
- Oil burner flame out
- Streetlight control
Other Applications:
- Annunciator
- Camera automatic photometry
- Electronic toy
- Industrial control
