The L6565 is a current-mode primary controller IC, specially designed for building offline Quasi-resonant ZVS flyback converters. It achieves Quasi-resonant operation through transformer demagnetization sensing, enabling ZVS at switch turn-on. The device compensates for power capability variations with mains voltage changes using line voltage feedforward.
At light loads, the IC automatically reduces the operating frequency while maintaining ZVS operation, effectively reducing consumption from the mains. With very low start-up and quiescent currents, it ensures compliance with Blue Angel and Energy Star regulations. The IC also features a disable function, on-chip current sense filter, error amplifier with precise reference voltage, and two-level overcurrent protection.
