Motor drivers act as current amplifiers by taking a low-current control signal and providing a higher-current signal to drive motors. The L293D IC contains two inbuilt H-bridge driver circuits, allowing simultaneous control of two DC motors in forward and reverse directions based on input logic. Enable pins must be high for motors to operate, and the outputs work in phase with their inputs when enabled.
Designed for driving inductive loads like relays, solenoids, and stepping motors, the L293D is ideal for applications requiring high-current motor control and de-coupling inductive loads from the main unit.
Applications:
- High current motor driver IC
- Dual H-bridge for controlling up to two motors simultaneously
- Ideal for inductive load de-coupling
- Wide voltage range for adaptive control
