The HCPL-4504 series includes a GaAsP LED optically coupled to a high gain photo detector. It offers short propagation delays and high CTR, making it an ideal solution for IPM inverter dead time and switching problems. The optocouplers are available in various package configurations, such as 8-Pin DIP, SO-8, and Wide body.
An insulating layer between the LED and integrated photo detector provides electrical insulation between the input and output, ensuring safe operation. The separate connections for the photo diode bias and the output-transistor collector enhance speed by reducing base collector capacitance.
Applications for the HCPL-4504 optocoupler include inverter circuits, Intelligent Power Module (IPM) interfacing, line receivers, high-speed logic ground isolation, pulse transformer replacements, and analog signal ground isolation.
