The DB37 connector is part of the D-sub miniature (D-sub) connector plug and socket family. The pins are arranged in rows of two, with one nineteen-pin row above an eighteen-pin row. Originally designed to work with the EIA/TIA 232 serial interface standard, the DB37 connector was commonly used for serial peripheral devices like keyboards, mice, and joysticks. Today, it has been largely replaced by more modern interfaces such as USB and Firewire, but is still used in many legacy devices for serial communication.
Applications include network ports, computer video output, game controller ports, and linear and rotary encoders in industries.
