A4988 Module is a small breakout board offering adjustable current limiting, over temperature, and over current protection. It supports five different stepping resolutions and operates in a wide voltage range of 8V to 35V, delivering up to 1 Amp per phase.
The A4988 is a complete micro-stepping motor driver with easy operation via a built-in translator. It can operate bipolar stepper motors in various step modes and has an output capacity of up to 35V and ±2A. The translator simplifies operation, making it ideal for applications where a complex microprocessor is not available.
The module's features include a fixed off-time current regulator, capable of operating in Slow or Mixed decay modes. The A4988's chopping control automatically selects the current decay mode for optimal performance. It also includes short-to-ground and shorted-load protection for added safety.
