Improved versions of the original VCO family, the 74LS629 offers enhanced voltage-to-frequency linearity, range, and compensation. Most devices in this series feature two independent VCOs on a single chip, with some having complementary Z outputs. The output frequency is determined by an external component in conjunction with voltage-sensitive inputs for control and range. Temperature compensation is more precise in the LS628 compared to the LS624, which requires an external timing resistor for improved compensation.
Figures 3 and 6 provide guidance on selecting the appropriate capacitor value for the desired operating frequency.
