The 74LS139 is ideal for high-performance memory-decoding applications where short propagation delay times are crucial. It offers two fully independent 2-to-4-line decoders/demultiplexers and is Schottky clamped for enhanced performance. The typical propagation delay is 21 ns, with a power dissipation of 34 mW.
Designed for high-speed memory decoders and data transmission systems, the 74LS139 can effectively minimize system decoding effects. With two active-low and one active-high enable inputs, external gates or inverters are not always necessary when expanding the circuit.
The decoders feature fully buffered inputs with high-performance Schottky diodes to suppress line-ringing, simplifying system design. Additionally, an enable input can be utilized as a data line in demultiplexing applications.
The 74LS139 is suitable for implementing a 24-line decoder without external inverters or a 32-line decoder with just one inverter. It's a reliable solution for systems requiring minimal delay introduced by the decoder.
