The 74HC93 is a high-speed silicon-gate CMOS device that is pin-compatible with low power Schottky TTL. It consists of four master-slave flip-flops internally connected to provide a divide-by-two section and a divide-by-eight section.
Each section has a separate clock input (CP0 and CP1) for state changes, with the ability to operate in various counting modes. The device features a gated AND asynchronous master reset (MR1 and MR2) to override clocks and clear all flip-flops.
Simultaneous frequency divisions are available at the Q0, Q1, Q2, and Q3 outputs, allowing for versatile functionality as a 4-bit or 3-bit ripple counter. It offers balanced propagation delay, transition times, and high noise immunity.
The 74HC93 is designed for a supply voltage range of 2V to 6V operation for HC types and 4.5V to 5.5V for HCT types. It has various compatibility features with input logic, making it a versatile choice for different applications.
