These devices are fabricated in silicon gate C2 MOS technology, offering high-speed performance and low power consumption. The M74HC646 consists of bus transceiver circuits with 3-state output, D-type flip-flops, and control circuitry for multiplexed data transmission. Data can be clocked into the registers on the low-to-high transition of the clock pins. Enable (G) and direction (DIR) pins control the transceiver functions, allowing for multiplexing of stored and real-time data. The direction control determines the data bus selection when enable G is active. In isolation mode, data can be stored in one or both registers. Only one bus (A or B) can be driven at a time.
When an output function is disabled, the input function remains enabled for data storage and transmission. All inputs are equipped with protection circuits for added safety.
