The 74HC540 is an octal 3-state inverting buffer IC with a wide operating voltage range of 2V to 6V. It features high drive current outputs that enable high-speed operation, even when driving large bus capacitances. These buffers utilize advanced silicon-gate CMOS technology, offering high noise immunity and low power consumption.
Both the 74HC540 and MM74HC541 have a fanout of 15 LS-TTL equivalent inputs. The 3-STATE control gate works as a two-input NOR, where if either G1 or G2 is HIGH, all eight outputs are in the high-impedance state.
The MM74HC541 is a non-inverting buffer complementary to the 74HC540 inverting buffer.
