The 74HC165 is an 8-bit serial shift register that shifts data from QA to QH when clocked. It enables parallel inputs to each stage with a low level at the SHIFT/LOAD input. Clocking is done through a gated CLOCK input, and data transfer occurs on the positive edge of the clock. Parallel loading is inhibited when the SHIFT/LOAD input is HIGH.
The 74HC logic family is functionally and pin-out compatible with the standard 74LS logic family. All inputs are protected from static discharge damage by internal diode clamps to VCC and ground.
