The 6-0-6 3A Center Tapped Step Down Transformer is designed to act as a step-down transformer, reducing AC from 230V to 6V. It features a center-tapped secondary winding and flying colored insulated connecting leads approximately 100mm long.
The transformer's construction includes a solid core and winding, with cores made of high permeability silicon steel. This design helps in greatly reducing the magnetizing current and confining the flux to a path that closely couples the winding.
It is a static electrical device that transfers energy by inductive coupling between its winding circuits. The varying current in the primary winding creates a varying magnetic flux in the transformer's core, inducing a varying electromotive force (E.M.F) or voltage in the secondary winding.
