A solid-state relay (SSR) is an electronic switch that does not have any moving parts, unlike traditional electromechanical relays. There are different types of SSRs, including photo-coupled SSR, transformer-coupled SSR, and hybrid SSR. The SSR in this module is controlled by the trigger angle of the triac with a variable resistor of 470-560K. It is designed with four screw terminals for ring or fork connectors and a protective plastic cover.
A photo-coupled SSR is controlled by a low-voltage signal that is optically isolated from the load. The control signal energizes an LED, which then activates a photo-sensitive diode. The diode, in turn, triggers a back-to-back thyristor, silicon-controlled rectifier, or MOSFET transistor to switch the load.
