The 15-0-15 500mA Center Tapped Step Down Transformer is designed for various applications such as DIY projects requiring high current drain, on chassis AC/AC converter, and designing a battery charger.
The transformer has a center tapped secondary winding and flying colored insulated connecting leads (Approx 100 mm long). It acts as a step-down transformer, reducing AC - 230V to AC - 15V, providing outputs of 15V, 15V, and 0V.
The construction of the transformer includes a solid core and winding. It is a static electrical device that transfers energy by inductive coupling between its winding circuits. The cores are made of high permeability silicon steel, greatly reducing the magnetizing current and confining the flux to a closely coupled winding path.
