The 0-12 500mA Step Down Transformer is designed for various applications such as DIY projects requiring high current drain, on chassis AC/AC converter, and designing a battery charger. The transformer acts as a step-down transformer, reducing AC - 230V to AC - 12V, with outputs of 12V and 0V. It features a solid core and winding construction, with cores made of high permeability silicon steel to reduce magnetizing current and confine the flux for efficient energy transfer.
The transformer has a non-center tapped secondary winding and flying colored insulated connecting leads (Approx 100 mm long) for easy installation and connection. It is a static electrical device that transfers energy through inductive coupling between winding circuits. The varying current in the primary winding creates a magnetic flux in the core, inducing an electromotive force in the secondary winding.
