This ultrasonic sensor is very similar to the ultrasonic sensors found in cars. It consists of two separate parts: the transducer (sensing element) and the control board. The module can detect objects within a distance range of 250mm to 4500mm, allowing the sensing element to be placed far from the control circuitry.
The Waterproof Ultrasonic Obstacle Sensor is ideal for use in harsh environments and can be easily interfaced with Arduino. It offers better performance compared to cheaper ultrasonic sensors and is suitable for applications such as horizontal distance measurement, obstacle avoidance, traffic control, security, industrial control, artificial intelligence, and research.
The basic working principle involves sending 40KHz tones and calculating the distance based on the time duration between transmitting and receiving the signal. The package includes 1 x Waterproof Ultrasonic Obstacle Sensor with a 2.5m separate probe.
