The TP4056 is a complete constant-current/constant-voltage linear charger designed for single cell lithium-ion batteries. It comes in an SOP package with low external component requirements, making it perfect for portable applications. The internal PMOSFET architecture eliminates the need for a blocking diode, and the thermal feedback system regulates the charge current to prevent overheating.
The charge voltage is preset at 4.2V with 1.5% accuracy, and the charge current can be externally programmed using a single resistor. The TP4056 also features a current monitor, under voltage lockout, automatic recharge functionality, and two status pins to indicate charge termination and input voltage presence.
Applications for the TP4056 include cellular telephones, PDAs, GPS devices, charging docks, digital cameras, portable electronics, and USB bus-powered chargers.
