The Teensy 4.0 features an ARM Cortex-M7 processor at 600 MHz, with an NXP iMXRT1062 chip, the fastest microcontroller available today, ten times faster than the Teensy 3.2! The NXP iMXRT1062 is a cross-over processor, combining microcontroller functionality with microcomputer speeds. It is ideal for applications requiring ample flash, RAM, data processing capabilities, and two full-speed USB ports. Additionally, it includes a graphics processor, all at an affordable price.
When operating at 600 MHz, the Teensy 4.0 consumes approximately 100 mA current. It supports dynamic clock scaling, allowing for speed changes without affecting baud rates or other functions. The power shut off feature enables complete 3.3V power supply disablement by holding a pushbutton for 5 seconds, with the ability to turn it back on with a brief press. Even with the power off, the RTC continues to track date & time if a coin cell is connected to VBAT. Moreover, the Teensy 4.0 can be overclocked well beyond 600 MHz.
