The TEC1-12704 Thermoelectric Cooler 4A Peltier Module is a simple application of the Peltier Thermoelectric Effect. Featuring 127 semiconductor couples in a 40mmx40mm area, this module is efficient in cooling and heating up to 70°C.
Thermoelectric coolers, also known as TEC or Peltier Modules, create a temperature differential on each side, one side getting hot and the other side getting cool. This module can be utilized to warm something up or cool it down, depending on the side used. It can also generate electricity using a temperature differential.
For optimal performance, ensure proper heat dissipation from the hot side using a heat sink or a similar device. Failure to remove heat from the hot side will result in the Peltier reaching stasis and becoming ineffective. An old computer CPU heatsink or a metal block can efficiently pull heat from the hot side for better performance.
A TEC module, functioning as a heat pump, transfers heat from one side to the other when a DC power source is applied. This creates a hot side and a cold side, making it suitable for various applications such as computer CPUs, CCDs, portable refrigerators, and medical instruments.
