The Grove Water Sensor v1.1 is made up of interlaced traces of ground and sensor signals, allowing it to detect water levels and presence. It can indicate whether the sensor is dry, damp, or completely immersed in water by measuring conductivity. The sensor features exposed PCB traces that detect the presence of water, with a weak pull-up resistor of 1 M. This resistor will pull the sensor trace value high until a drop of water shorts the sensor trace to the grounded trace.
This sensor can work with digital I/O pins of Arduino or analog pins to detect the amount of water induced on contact between the grounded and sensor traces. It can be used for various applications such as a rainfall detector, liquid leakage detector, or tank overflow detector.
