The Raspberry Pi TV HAT allows you to receive digital terrestrial TV broadcast systems, including DVB-T and DVB-T2, on a Raspberry Pi. You can use it to view TV on your Pi or create a TV server for streaming content to other devices on the network. The board includes a set of mechanical spacers, a 40-way header, and an Aerial adaptor.
While the TV HAT can be used on all Raspberry Pi boards as a backend, it is recommended to use a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ or older Pi 3 for optimal performance when directly receiving and viewing TV on the Pi. The TV HAT features a Sony CXD2880 TV tuner that supports DVB-T and DVB-T2 TV standards.
For software, we recommend using TV Headend for decoding TV streams and viewing content. You can also use media players like Kodi, OMXplayer, and LibreELEC for playback.
