- Charge from USB or AC Adapter
- On-Chip Thermal Limiting
- Charge Status Indicator
- 5-Pin Thin SOT23 Package
The MAX1555 charges single-cell lithium-ion (Li+) batteries from USB or AC adapter sources without needing external FETs or diodes. It accepts input voltages up to 7V with on-chip thermal limiting for simplified PC board layout and optimal charging rates. When thermal limits are reached, charging current is reduced without shutdown, and a CHG output indicates charging status.
With USB connected and no DC power, the charge current is 100mA max, enabling charging from powered and unpowered USB hubs without port communication. When DC power is connected, the charging current is typically set at 280mA. No input-blocking diodes are necessary to prevent battery drain.
The MAX1555 is available in a 5-pin thin SOT23 package and can operate over a wide temperature range from -40°C to +85°C.
Applications:
- Cell Phones
- Digital Cameras
