LM35 is an integrated analog temperature sensor that provides an electrical output proportional to the degree centigrade. It offers precise accuracy without the need for external calibration or trimming. The sensor's low output impedance and linear output make it easy to interface with readout or control circuitry. When interfacing with a 10 or 12 bit ADC, no additional components are required.
If using an 8-bit ADC like ADC0808 or ADC0804, an amplifier section may be needed to measure a 1°C change. LM35 can be directly connected to Arduino for temperature sensing applications. Additionally, the output of LM35 can be utilized in comparator circuits for over-temperature indication or as a temperature controller with a relay.
