The Arduino Ethernet Shield allows your Arduino board to connect to the internet effortlessly. It is based on the Wiznet W5100 ethernet chip, providing TCP and UDP capabilities. The shield supports up to four simultaneous socket connections and features a Micro SD card slot for file storage. With a standard RJ-45 connection and Power over Ethernet enabled, this shield is compatible with Arduino Uno and Mega boards. Simply plug the shield onto your Arduino board, connect it to your network using an RJ45 cable (not included), and follow the easy instructions to start controlling your world through the internet.
The Ethernet Shield is stackable, allowing another shield to be placed on top while keeping the pin layout intact. It is compatible with Arduino Uno R3 boards and can be accessed using the Ethernet library. The onboard micro-SD card slot is accessible through the SD Library, with SS on Pin 4. The shield includes a reset controller to ensure proper reset of the W5100 Ethernet module on power-up. The current shield version features a Power over Ethernet (PoE) module compliant with IEEE802.3af standards, providing low output ripple and noise, overload and short-circuit protection, and 1500V isolation.
