The TMF8801 is a time-of-flight (ToF) distance-ranging sensor that measures distance by analyzing the time delay between light pulses. It can detect objects at distances of up to 250cm, regardless of color or texture. The sensor ensures highly accurate measurements within 5% and operates effectively in various lighting conditions, including dark and bright environments.
Equipped with a built-in histogram, the TMF8801 offers dynamic cover glass calibration and crosstalk compensation. Additionally, sunlight rejection filters reduce background light noise, enhancing the sensor's performance.
The TMF8801 communicates data via an I2C fast-mode interface and an integrated microcontroller with on-chip algorithms, eliminating the need for external optics.
