The DB37 connector is part of the D-sub miniature (D-sub) connector plug and socket family. The pins are arranged in rows of two, with one nineteen-pin row above an eighteen-pin row. It is designed to work with the EIA/TIA 232 serial interface standard, making it compatible with various devices like keyboards, mice, and joysticks.
While modern interfaces like USB and Firewire have replaced the DB37 in many applications, there are still legacy devices that rely on this connector for serial communication.
Applications:
- Network ports
- Computer video output
- Game controller ports
- Linear and rotary encoders in industries
