The DB15 connector is part of the D-sub miniature (D-sub) connector plug and socket family. The pins are arranged in rows of two, with one eight-pin row above a seven-pin row. Originally designed to work with the EIA/TIA 232 serial interface standard, the DB15 connector was commonly used for serial peripheral devices like keyboards, mice, and joysticks. While modern interfaces have largely replaced the DB15, there are still many legacy devices that utilize this interface for serial communication.
Applications for the DB15 connector include network ports, computer video output, game controller ports, and linear and rotary encoders in industries.
