A CD54 56uH Surface Mount Power Inductor is a 2-terminal passive device with a coil of wire wound around a core, typically made of ferrite. It is commonly used in mobile phones, PDAs, MP3 players, DSCs/DVCs, portable DVD players, etc., as DC-DC Converter inductors.
When a current is applied through the inductor, a magnetic field is generated around it. Inductors with a magnetic core produce a much stronger magnetic field compared to air core inductors.
