These CD40193 up/down counters are versatile monolithic complementary MOS (CMOS) integrated circuits. Counting up and down is achieved by using two count inputs, with one held high while the other is clocked. The outputs change on the positive transition of the clock signal.
Additionally, these counters come equipped with preset inputs that are activated when load is logical ‘‘0’’, and a clear function that resets all outputs to ‘‘0’’ when active. The carry and borrow outputs facilitate easy cascading of multiple counters without requiring external circuitry. Furthermore, all inputs are safeguarded against static discharge damage through integrated clamps to VDD and VSS.
