The TMC 2209 driver v1.3 is an ultra-quiet two-phase stepper motor drive chip with advanced features. It offers a continuous drive current of 2.0A and a peak current of 2.8A, with a voltage range of 4.75V-29V and 256 subdivisions. The flexible micro Plyer interpolation unit provides up to 256 subdivisions, allowing perfect sinusoidal control even in systems with limited pulse frequencies. The TMC2209 incorporates StallGuard technology to detect alterations in the motor current and use this measurement to detect the end of an axis stroke, making it ideal for producing 3D printers without limit switches.
The TMC2209 is compatible with existing 3D printer electronics and features a standard step/dir. interface, making it easy to use. It can replace the original TMC2208, A4988, DRV8825, LV8729, etc. The CoolStep technology allows the TMC2209 to control the current dynamically, enabling higher current intensities and better thermal performance, saving up to 75% of electrical energy.
