The ADK USB Host Shield compatible with Arduino is based on the MAX3421E, a USB peripheral/host controller that enables full-speed USB peripheral or host functionality compliant with USB specification rev 2.0. This shield is compatible with a variety of Arduino boards, including UNO, Duemilanove, Mega, and Mega 2560, without the need for SPI re-wiring or code modifications. Simply solder the included stackable connectors and enjoy plug-and-play functionality.
With the Arduino Compatible USB HOST function, you can establish communication between your Arduino and other USB devices, as well as support USB HUB functionality. The shield adds USB Host capabilities to your Arduino board, allowing you to control a wide range of devices, including HID Compliant devices like keyboards and mice, digital SLR cameras, game console controllers, and other USB serial communication devices.
