The 74LS173 is perfect for bus-organized systems as it features totem-pole 3-state outputs that can drive highly capacitive loads without the need for pull-up components. It can be connected to a common bus with up to 128 outputs without interface requirements. Gated enable inputs control data entry into the flip-flops, and gated output-control lines enable/disable outputs.
The output control circuitry ensures minimal conflict between outputs attempting to drive the bus to opposite logic levels. The 74LS173 is characterized for operation from 0°C to 70°C.
