The 74HC257 is a quad 2-input multiplexer with 3-state outputs, designed with clamp diodes for enabling the use of current limiting resistors to interface inputs with voltages exceeding VCC. It features a non-inverting data path and 3-state outputs that can directly interface with the system bus. The device complies with JEDEC standard no. 7A and has input levels suitable for both CMOS and TTL environments.
The 74HC257 comes with ESD protection, with the HBM JESD22-A114F exceeding 2000 V and MM JESD22-A115-A exceeding 200 V. This multiplexer offers a versatile solution for various applications where multiple inputs need to be selectively routed to a single output.
