Carbon fibre tubes are a great alternative to aluminium or steel tubes due to their strength and lightweight properties. This 14mm roll-wrapped carbon fibre tube is manufactured using high modulus (T700) unidirectional prepreg carbon fibre, providing maximum strength in the lateral axis. The roll-wrapped process ensures superior strength compared to pultruded tubes. While the tube is not as strong across its diameter, it excels along its length, making it ideal for applications that avoid crushing forces across the tube.
The roll-wrapped process involves laying up prepreg carbon fibre around a mandrel in multiple layers, then spiral-wrapping it with heat-shrink tape before oven curing.
