Carbon Fiber tubes offer superior strength compared to aluminum or steel tubes of the same weight. The high modulus (T700) unidirectional prepreg carbon Fiber used in manufacturing provides maximum strength in the lateral axis. Roll-wrapped tubes are stronger in general use than pultruded tubes due to the orientation of the Fibers.
The use of unidirectional Fibers and maximum strength in the lateral axis means the tube is not as strong across its diameter as it is along its length. It should be used to avoid unnecessary crushing forces across the tube.
Roll Wrapping: The prepreg carbon Fiber is laid up around a mandrel in multiple layers and then spiral-wrapped with heat-shrink tape before oven curing.
