Carbon Fiber tubes offer superior strength compared to aluminum or steel tubes of the same weight. The use of high modulus unidirectional prepreg carbon Fiber provides maximum strength in the lateral axis. Roll wrapped tubes are stronger in general use than pultruded tubes due to the orientation of the Fibers.
The tube is not as strong across its diameter as it is along its length, so it should be used to avoid unnecessary crushing forces. The roll wrapping process involves laying up prepreg carbon Fiber around a mandrel in multiple layers and spiral-wrapping it with heat-shrink tape before oven curing.
