The Microchip Technology Inc. 24C08 is organized as four or eight blocks of 256 x 8-bit memory with a 2-wire serial interface. It features a page-write capability for up to 16 bytes of data and compatible with the I2C bus.
The device comes with Schmitt trigger, filtered inputs for noise suppression, output slope control to eliminate ground bounce, and 100 kHz compatibility. It has a self-timed write cycle including auto-erase, hardware write protect for entire memory, and ESD protection greater than 4,000V.
With a write cycle time of 2 ms for page-write, the 24C08 guarantees 1,000,000 ERASE/WRITE cycles and data retention of over 200 years. It is available in 8-pin DIP, 8-lead, or 14-lead SOIC packages suitable for extended temperature ranges.
