A solid-state relay (SSR) is an electronic switch that does not have any moving parts, unlike traditional electromechanical relays. This particular SSR model allows power output control through the trigger angle of the triac with a variable resistor of 470-560K. It is equipped with four screw terminals suitable for ring or fork connectors and includes a protective plastic cover for the terminals.
There are different types of SSRs, including photo-coupled SSR, transformer-coupled SSR, and hybrid SSR. The photo-coupled SSR, for instance, is controlled by a low voltage signal that is optically isolated from the load. The control signal energizes an LED, which then activates a photo-sensitive diode. This diode, in turn, switches the load by turning on a back-to-back thyristor, silicon-controlled rectifier, or MOSFET transistor.
