The 18-0-18 500mA Center Tapped Step Down Transformer is designed for various applications such as DIY projects requiring high current drain, on chassis AC/AC converter, and designing a battery charger.
The transformer has a center tapped secondary winding with flying colored insulated connecting leads (Approx 100 mm long). It acts as a step-down transformer, reducing AC - 230V to AC - 18V, providing outputs of 18V, 18V, and 0V.
The construction of the transformer includes a solid core and winding. It is a static electrical device that transfers energy by inductive coupling between its winding circuits. The transformer's cores are made of high permeability silicon steel, which greatly reduces the magnetizing current and confines the flux to a path closely coupling the winding.
